Phoenix of Creatures Omega

by Bogus

It came to pass with the death of Toby Simpson that the final Creatures game was created. The children of the original members of the Creatures
Community were all steeped in anticipation as the release date of the greatest Creatures game ever  made was upon them; the game´s increasing
technology had held their interest for generations. Finally, CO (Creatures Omega) was distributed throughout the world spreading more hype than the
former Y2K bug - which turned out to be nothing more than a flicker of lights every hour as clocks of different time zones hit 2000.

On the box was printed, "Behold, the Norns, Grendles, Ettins, Foreshas and Hycoes, now recieve the greatest gift of all: emotions." And it was true, visual day and night, was ancient. Moving back and forth, up down, in holes, around bushes...all were a thing of the past, and here is where the story begins...

As the ghost of a norn passed through the quiet pasture of the world (1000 times larger than C1) in the early hours before sunrise a pregnant young norn panted as she took refuge in a hollow tree. She watched from inside as the user commanded his many hands to search the area for the norn. She had the agents to hide herself from the user's sensors but ever since game and player interaction advanced so that the person could enter the world, human senses were enabled as well as their emotions and in this case, hate was very active. In a fit of anger after losing the norn he set the area on fire and disappeared instantly as he exited the game. The female in the tree was safe from the user but the fire was growing wilder. She scurried up the tree until she reached an opening near the top branches. She climbed out and looked at the sea of flames beneath her. Panic coursed through her mind and desperation gripped her heart. Her body levels were unstable. Her worst fear was on its way.

Moments later, as the heat of the fire breathed up from under the tree, she layed an egg...Sadness intercepted that day. The sun rose on the ettins as they smothered the last few flames and uncovered the female's lifeless body holding onto her egg. By the middle of that day, all the inhabitants of the world gathered around the egg. Not even the applets could break the power of the agent the norn used to hide herself from the user. The egg was parentless and mystery was among the game when suddenly, the egg twitched and cracked.

Bits of shell fell to the ground and then two eyes as red as the sunset cast themselves into the world. Then following were tiny fuzzy fingers that broke
the shell with a burst, and a small golden norn tumbled forth. "This baby is fire in the image of a norn. We will call her Phoenix," and the entire game
agreed...Time passed and Phoenix grew so beautiful that her very fur emitted light. She had many characteristics that no other norn had possessed in this game. She never needed to eat, never needed to sleep, nor ever did she grow a stage over youth. In fact, the only thing that could kill her was water,
so she stayed far away from the seven ocean areas. Naturally she was envied by everyone. The norns of CO had the gift of emotions and hatred flourished most of all them. Phoenix was exiled from the norns and sentenced to live on the smallest island. And as if that wasn't enough, there was still the user who came into the world to harm norns and cause chaos. The only protection Phoenix had against him was the hiding agent, so she lived in loneliness and without love on her island, watching the user destroy the land...

The years went on and the world was in agony. All except the forgotten island. "Oh what is better? To live in a world of loneliness without love or in a world of hatred without peace?" she cried out across the seas. Her mourning was so strong that the user often heard a strange voice echoing from nowhere. On a day with the only remaining blue skies and silent clouds over the forgotten island, Phoenix could no longer bear what was happening.
She walked onto a cliff with the sea which she dreaded beneath her and closed her eyes. She held her breath and said, "Oh gifts of emotions...you are only plagues of pain," she sighed and jumped off. The echo of her words broke through the air and pierced the user's ears and he was aware. Not knowing what it was, but knowing that there was something causing a disruption in the material of the world, he exported the invisible Phoenix before she met her reflection in the water.

The place where files collided. The export folder. Here, there were no agents - she was exposed to the user and vulnerable to his wickedness.
Luckily, the advanced intelligence of norns allowed Phoenix to think of a plan, and she escaped into the internet. She was being pulled somewhere without even knowing what was happening and before she could make out what was passing by, she found herself in another folder. A folder belonging to
another user. "Wow, how did you get here?" said the user as he selected the file. Phoenix stood before the user in a vast, green world. "What a
beautiful norn! Who are you?". Phoenix looked up at him and replied, "My name is Phoenix...are you going to kill me?".
"What!? No, no, no...why do you ask that?"
"The world were I come from is being torn apart by the user. The norns are killed and tortured so much that the game is wearing down,"
"Well, you're safe here, go and enjoy your new home." and Phoenix looked around at the world which had grown appropriately as it was intended to, into a land will hills like emeralds and seas like sapphires. Every part of her was relieved and she felt that missing love sweeping over her. There is
no feeling like love. And yet, despite it's splendor, the new world wasn't exactly right. She knew she had to go back to save the ones that had hated
her and banished her. "Well, I certainly see that love is in your sprites. Take me to this world and I'll see what I can do," said the user. Then he scanned Phoenix's files and searched for her origins with his computer. The password for Phoenix's world's files was shown to him and he and Phoenix accessed the dark user's game.

As he stood there looking at the world he was saddened for the inhabitants. "There are only a few survivors left," said Phoenix showing him a small
group of norns in the distance. He went over to them and told them what was going on. Phoenix led them through the files while the user stayed behind. Suddenly a shadow was cast on the ground in front of him.

"Well, well, what is this?" said the dark user.
"You've abused your norns and destroyed your world. You're not fit to be a user"
"No, I'm not... in fact, it's not even a user you talk to."
"Yes, I know. I can see it. You're the manifestation of the hate files aren't you?"
"And behold my world. I decieve. I lie. I am evil. Even in the real world I thrive on you."
"Then, where you show hate, I will  love and where you condemn, I will forgive,"

And there was war in the game. The sky was the first to go. It ripped apart and revealed a void. Then, the waters, then the plants, animals, and then the land...all until there was only the two. "Yes, you do decieve. But I won't let you win. By love, we are saved, and by hate, you are destroyed."

The user was thrown back into his own world. The former game no longer existed and there was no trace of the dark user. For her love, Phoenix was
made queen over the norns and she lived in joy and happiness from that day forth.
